How Do You Know If You Need New Speakers In Your Car?

It’s usually easy to tell if you need new speakers. The sound quality will be awful. There are a few common issues with car speakers and sound production.
Each issue indicates that you need to make a change somewhere in the system. We will consider these in turn below.

1.    You’ve just bought a new car and the sound quality is not what you expect. Often, the factory-installed speakers in a car are awful. The manufacturers tend to spend a lot on the stereo unit, but next to nothing on the speakers themselves. This is bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. If you don’t like the sound quality from your brand new car, then it’s more than likely the factory-installed speakers are to blame. Once you’ve changed them, the sound quality will improve greatly.

2.    The sound was great when you first brought the car, but over the years, you’ve noticed that it has degraded. This can be caused by a number of reasons, each with their own solution, so let’s have a look.

a.    Scenario one: the speakers have degraded slowly overtime. This is usually due to wear and tear on the speakers, and can only be addressed by replacing the speakers.

b.    Scenario two: one of the speakers has blown. Here, you will hear crackling, hissing, ringing, or no sound at all from a particular speaker. Speakers usually blow because you have put too much power through them. You have two options here.

i.    First, you can replace the broken speaker with an identical speaker.
ii.    Secondly, you can upgrade your car speakers UK to a more powerful model. You will have to change all of the speakers on the system. If you don’t, they will all start to blow overtime (providing they were all the same make and model to start with).

c.    Scenario three: the only issue is a crackling in the music. Sometimes, this can be caused by low quality speaker wire. So, if this is happening, before you rush out and buy new speakers, change the speaker wire and see if this makes a difference.
