Car Stereos and Multimedia: What’s On the Market?

The car stereo industry has come a long way in a relatively short space of time. Ten years ago, most cars still had tape decks and while you can still purchase cassette players for your car, they are now novelty items. Next, we had the CD player, and that’s still relatively popular today, with the vast majority of cars having CD playing capabilities. Now, though, by far the best choice in car stereos are digital music players, such as the MP3 players and iPod/iPhone players.

At In-car music, we sell a range of different car stereos. Amongst our collection, you will find:

•CD players
•MP3, iPod and iPhone players
•DAB radio players
•Bluetooth players
•Multimedia players

Whatever your choice of in-car entertainment, whether CDs, digital music, DVDs or digital videos, we’ll have a car stereo that will allow you to play that particular file format.

By far our favourite technologies are those found in the AV multimedia area of the site. Here, you can find a fantastic collection of in-car players and accessories that will enable you to transform your car into, what can only be described as, a mobile cinema. Here are a few of our favourite accessories:

•Headrest screens: exactly as they sound, they’re TV screens that sit in the back of the headrest, so that the backseat passengers can watch their digital videos on their own personal screens – no fun for the driver, but for passengers, it’s awesome.

•Roof mounted screens: whereas the headrest screens allow each person to watch their own screen, the roof-mounted screens can be shared, although they can be mounted individually, too.

•TV tuners: it’s great having videos that you can watch, but sometimes there’s that programme that you just don’t want to miss. Well, a TV tuner will allow your passengers to watch the TV while travelling in the car. Not pre-recorded TV, but live TV.

GO WITH A BLAST

Some extremely expensive cars come with superb sound around systems and in the case of at least one luxury well-known brand the music system alone comes to the price of a brand new small family hatchback.
Most ordinary car manufacturers trying to save as much money as possible will fit very modest sound systems. That is not to say they are bad systems it is just that for the purists who drive long distances and enjoy good music then the factory fitted audio can certainly be greatly improved upon at modest cost.

For an idea of what is available in car entertainment both sound and visual then In Car Music reveal all the latest equipment on their website with a promise of next day delivery assuming the item you request is in stock.

There are too many improvements to go into much detail in this blog but the car speakers alone are worth special attention.

The average car today is a well- insulated and quiet motorised vehicle compared with just fifty years ago. The result is an environment that lends itself perfectly to good acoustics. The factory fitted speakers in most new cars do not do justice to this possibility of excellent sound and often they have been placed in inappropriate areas of the car.

With new woofers, tweeters and all in-between and a top make stereo to replace the existing one it is not difficult to create a sound that will help you sit-out the worst traffic jams whilst you gaily sing-along.

Interface kits for iPhones and iPods can also be purchased here so that the your personal collection of favoured music can be blasting along as you drive to work thinking perhaps that it all sounds even better than that home hi-fi of yours or even a headset.

Visit this site and take a look at the many ways your modest car can be turned into a theatre with the acoustics of a symphony hall. You can even go the whole hog and put a monster amplifier/speaker in the boot leaving no space for shopping.

HOW AUDIBLE IS YOUR AUDIO?

Most of the time, especially in newer cars a car audio is very audible and they are of good sound quality.  Anyway, the sound quality is satisfactory for most people.  It is true that most people switch on the receiver as soon as they get into their car and they either listen to music or a discussion programme.

The radio is an excellent medium to relax people during periods of enforced immobility which sometimes can send you to sleep.  The audio will prevent you from nodding off on tedious journeys.

It just depends on your choice of music, whether you play it loud to energise yourself or put something soothing on to calm you down.  If your loud music sounds distorted your system will become inaudible and you may have to upgrade your in-car music arrangements.

If you are thinking of upgrading all of it or just your speakers you must ensure that your current receiver can support them.  Of course, your budget plays a major part in all of this.  However, there are plenty systems that produce a good sound and do not cost the earth.

It is all up to you to do your research to find out about these.  This research can be done on the internet.  When you have found something that gets good reviews and is also within your budget you can always take yourself off to your local car accessories store to listen to the sound quality of your chosen audio system.

Other aspects should be given consideration to.  Do you want to play your iPhone or player whilst motoring about? Do you need a CD player because you would rather listen to that? These are all features that may make your system a little dearer.

Many people would rather listen to their iPlayer when travelling around as a great variety of music can be recorded on these.  If you should purchase a kit to link this gadget to your receiver, you will be able to dispense with speakers and chargers.

THE ADVANTAGE OF MODERN SOUND SYSTEMS

Only just a decade ago car stereos were prone to theft.  It used to be devastating to see our lovely cars’ dashboards disembowelled with debris strewn all over where the thieves had smashed a window and ripped your system out.

If your car is an older model you will do well to purchase a new stereo model that these days is fairly theft proof.  This is borne out by car theft having gone down drastically in the last decade.

There is another factor that has contributed to the theft figures going down and that is that most modern cars have a factory fitted stereo and they are not worth stealing as all other models of the same year have the same system and prices of new kits have also considerably gone down in recent years.

You will be relatively safe, therefore, to buy a stereo for your older car these days as thieves will generally leave them alone as there is no money in it for them.  However, should you have iPhone or pod accessories fitted, these are still attractive to vandals.

Although the modern systems are entirely adequate for most people, there are the ones amongst us that want the best surround sound when they are travelling thousands of miles every year.  In this case to immerse yourself in a concert setting is really important especially if you are a real connoisseur.

You may want to change the speakers too in this case.  These are almost the most important accessory to achieve the optimum pure sounds.  If you really want to push the boat out, you can opt for component speakers.

These are speakers that can only pick up their specific sound range.  You will need several of these to reproduce the different sounds required to make up all the sound ranges that makes up an orchestra or a band.  It will require some space to accommodate all the different components in an average car.

If you think that you do not have enough space, you can always upgrade with coaxial speakers.

Get Good Vibrations

Wi-Fi has made mobile communication so much easier and music downloads means quick access to all the very latest releases at the expense of high street retailers.

In-car entertainment makes even the longest of journeys more bearable and the better the sound the quicker it passes.

If you have not already got iPhone car interface kits fitted oriPod then this is the place to buy at In Car Music.

These inexpensive little kits will ensure that all your favourite music can be played in the car through the existing amp and speaker system but if you want to improve on the quality of sound even further then take a look here at the many car speakers for sale.

With little effort that music can be made to roll around the car with better effect than most home Hi-Fi systems.

The beauty of the car is that surround sound is easy to obtain but it helps if you know exactly which woofers and tweeters work to best effect.

There are component speakers and co-axial ones to consider and it is important to get the right ones to create that surround sound effect.

If you are not an expert in reproducing the best sound then read these pages carefully and research the different qualities of the many speakers on sale. On the other hand, if you live anywhere around London then perhaps you would be better off visiting the store and fitting centre and talking to those who know all about these things.

Online shopping is brilliant as long as you know exactly what it is you require but sometimes it is better to see the goods before you buy.

It is also better that the installation of enhanced car Hi-Fi is left to people who do this for a living. They will be able to advise what is best for your particular make of car and model making sure you get maximum quality of sound.

The car is a perfect environment for music and it is almost a shame not to make the most of that fact.

Keep Up With The Times

Browsing through vintage cars for sale the other day I came across a fully restored Daimler 250 V8 saloon.
For those who cannot remember that far back it was a classic late nineteen-sixty exact copy of the Jaguar that Inspector Morse used to drive but in some ways rarer and considered less flash.

Being driven to the airport at the age of ten in my wealthy uncles Daimler I distinctly remember the tick of the clock above the almost silent engine. This was a beautiful car and way better than anything Daimler or Jaguar produced over the following couple of decades.

What struck me was the quality sound of the radio. No cassettes or CDs in those distant times but just the BBC plum voice of a continuity announcer, no doubt standing to attention and wearing a dinner suit with bow tie as they did in those days.

This vintage restoration is for sale in full working condition and hopefully will go to someone who will really appreciate it. In order to bring it up to date it has something extra to the original nineteen sixties spec; the radio has been removed and a new MP3 with iPod car interface kits are in its place along with the iPhone equivalent and a whole new speaker system to give a perfect surround sound.

What would uncle have made of that if he was still around especially if there was a giant woofer and a couple of super tweeters fitted and some loud latter day pop group sprang into life.

Perhaps these alterations were made by the In Car Music Company in Leyton East London. Their web site offers every type of equipment to improve sound and Wi-Fi devices as well as upgrade speakers, amps and a dozen other things that can improve the communications, sounds and visual devices in the car.

Apart from every type of fitting kit for iPods and iPhones they have some of the very best replacement headrests incorporating 7 inch wide screen LCD with DVD wireless game controller for the entertainment of back seat passengers.

Get More From Your Car Stereo

Many years ago the car stereo was just an afterthought and most cars were not fitted with them as standard until the nineteen sixties. In the seventies and eighties cassette players were definitely extra costs until the nineties when the CD replaced that piece of technology.

The luxury cars had all of these as standard and today the most expensive luxury cars in the world have sound systems that cost as much as a new small car.

It seems you cannot have too much of a good sound and there are many reasons for this. The first is that the systems themselves have improved dramatically over recent years. The quality of amplifiers and speakers ensures remarkable quality of sound.

The clarity of in-car music knows no bounds and the good news is that to install the best does not have to cost an arm and a leg.

Take a look at all that is available at the long established In Car Music store on these pages and you get an idea how easily you can improve your factory fitted system.

Everything you need from a huge assortment of speakers to iPod and iPhone fittings along with car stereo fitting kits are here.

All DVD and navigation equipment including the very latest top of the range 2DIN iPhone ready CD MP3 DVD/USB Kenwood is in stock.

If you live within Greater London or surrounding countryside then do consider visiting the store and fitting centre as it is better to have experienced professionals to fit new equipment unless you have a good knowledge of electronics and speaker/ amp outputs.

Along with stereo fitting kits that consist of the fascia panel, aerial adapter, ISO wiring or steering wheel interface with stereo removal keys, the business carries many anti-theft devices, alarms and tracking devices.

Sensors for reverse parking are also in stock as are camera systems for the same purpose. From a good sound system to a truly brilliant sound system not only improves the driving experience but is guaranteed to bring a smile of pleasure to any passenger lucky enough to hear it.
